Crossroads WD

I know I know, I am a bit TOO WOLS to blog about the Crossroads WD, since it was 3 weeks ago kind of thing... But due to busyness and waiting for photos, I can oli blog on it now...

Anyway, I had so much fun at Bintan that I nearly don wanna come back to Singapore. Since I am involved in both the drama and wedding choir, I went there on Friday (the actual wedding was on Saturday afternoon). Together with 90% of the cast, the jiemeis and brothers and the couple themselves, we checked in and boarded the ferry at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 9am.

Upon reaching Bintan, we checked out and boarded the bus to our apartments. 4 rooms were allocated: Me, Erika, Liz and Pris in one room, the guys in one room, Thati, Rubez, Serena and Jasmine in one room and the rest of the girls in one room. We went for lunch in a restaurant at an outdoor kind of shopping centre. The food there was cheap and good. Guess wat I ate?

Ans: Fried Rice with REAL CRAB!!! Cost: S$5.00

I got a shock of my life as this was the first time I ever seen Fried Rice with real crab for S$5. I was actually expecting the crabs to be, you know, crabstick, lots of it. After that we did what Singaporeans always do all year round: shopping! I bought this cute and nice batik tube and I love it so much! It costed me S$17 though... I bought a dark pink sleeveless top for S$6. Then we went for rehearsal at the venue itself.

The place was near the sea and it was very beautiful. We had rehearsals with lots of changes in the script. We did a dry run and made changes pertaining to our standing positions, our going in and going out, dance, timing, etc. Then we went to the beach to play! To my amazement, the sand was very fine and very nice to step on, comparing to the sand at the beach in Singapore, which is not that fine.

After that, we went for dinner at a very cosy restaurant opposite the open air shopping centre. We were supposed to be there by 7.30pm, but due to the bus was delayed at Nirwana Gardens (the actual wedding location), we reached at abt 8.30pm. The lady boss and one of her workers was very kind as to wait for us till then. Not only that, when we reached late, they welcomed us with huge smiles. I was actually expecting them not to be too happy as they were having their fasting month and were supposed to close at around 7.30pm. We felt so bad to have them wait for us for so long. We had our dinner and proceeded back to our apartments to prepare for a full dress rehearsal in Joy's Supreme room.

There, there are changes again. My lines, which was originally in Chinese (as it was supposed to be in Chinese Church), was changed to English as the words spoken by me are not smooth at all. After it was changed, it was a lot better as I feel more comfortable to speak in English than Chinese (if you want me to translate it myself, that is!)

After the rehearsal, its time to BATH!!!! After bathing, we wento down to fellowship in Joy's room. Our handsome chefs, Vincent and Jiarong, cooked for us. I had no chance to eat the food as I was too tired and went up to rest.

Our chefs amongst the guys

The next morning, we woke up at around 6am and met at around 7pm. We had breakfast at the same place where we had our dinner the night before. It was buffet style breakfast and it was nice! After breakfast, we went back to pack our stuff and got ready to go to Nirwana Gardens for the actual thing.

When we reached, Mediacorp crew was already there. We prepared for soundcheck plus standing position before the actual thing started. MDC was recording our rehearsals, so the whole wedding (maybe?) will be telecasted on Channel 8 in around Nov. Telecast date is not confirmed yet...

They say pictures speaks a thousand words, so here they are

Finally!!!

Finally, finally, finally! MDC came last night to film what we were doing - dancing to Bollywood Music. While we were dancing, various shots were taken and those chosen to be interviewed will be interviewed on Friday at Bintan, which means the whole event will be shot by MDC! Wow! A wedding event becomes such an event which will be telecasted on national TV! So Exciting!!!

Something else touches me. Isaac was talking to us after our rehearsal, saying what Don, one of the TV crew, had told him, he was actually touched by the friendship the whole drama team have with one another and this whole thing is not just about the wedding, but also the relationship between everyone involved. from some of us initially didn't know each other from the start of the production, till getting to know and care for one another in many ways, I dare to say that we have build very strong friendships with one another.

Crossroads WD cast and crew, Jia You!

Wedding Choir, Jia You too!

Everyone involved including our main zhu jue aka Isaac and Dominique, Jia You!

CROSSROADS WEDDING DRAMA

4 more days to go....

Counting down to the CROSSROADS WEDDING DRAMA...

Good thing we finished the dance last night, just need more practice for the dance routine. To be frank, I feel that this dance is quite fun and quite an ok routine for me who has totally NO dance background, but have to have lots of practice. All thanks to Theresa, our dance instructor...

Lots of stuff to do before the trip: practise dance, practise the way I say my lines, which is in Chinese, pack bag, etc....

Really looking forward to the drama...

My fav topic... Boybands...

Yes, Boybands... I love boybands and girlbands. I like 棒棒堂 especially 小煜飛輪海 especially 亞綸, 櫻桃幫, S.H.E especially Ella ( I am the self-declared big sized version of Ella...), 黑澀會美眉 especially 大牙﹐小薰﹐丫頭﹐鬼鬼 and Mei Mei (They are just simply adorable!!!). For those who don't know who I am talking about, here are the pictures to help you to regain your memory of these people.

棒棒堂 and 黑澀會美眉

飛輪海

My fav member in 棒棒堂, 小煜

Actually in 棒棒堂 there are more people....

(From Left to right)
1st Row:

There are two more guys, Echo and Latte which are not in the pic as I don't have the pic in the uniform, but nevertheless, here they are.

Latte and Echo

Echo is the one whose strength is beatboxing. His beatboxing is really good till I have nothing to say. Latte is the one who can sing and plays the guitar, similar to 小煜 .

Busy but Fruitful

Busy, busy, busy... Nowadays I am so busy with so many things, with Crossroads Wedding Drama-plus-Wedding Choir, Strikeforce, Church choir (as an assistant helper and member) and might go back to MPYC cuz I really miss them but couldn't go because of my current bad folsato voice for now... Plus i wanna spend more time with my partner (some of you will know who I am talking about). Cause of these I had to sacrifice MPYC for the moment.... Sorry guys!!! *Blush blush*

Anyway, these activities are very fruitful to me, especially having the chance to get to know my friends and partner better. And sometimes my partner get to know my friends too! So its killing two birds with one stone. And it widens my partner's circle of friends too... *Heeheehee*

Talking about Strikeforce, I am learning something new to honour a fantastic drummer. I am learning what he created and I am learning two parts of the sequence. Its so fun when you go from not knowing how to drum, to learning the ropes to playing a sequence for someone great. Now my dream is to perform on stage with the fantastic guys of Strikeforce. By 2008 beginning. Jia You to me!

Happy...~

Y so happy? Cuz i suddenly got the privilege to sit on my Senior Manager, Junn's car with my colleague Cindy and Vice President of my department Mr Yeo! This is truly a good experience as this was the first time I got to sit in a manager's car ever since I stepped into the current company... We were supposed to send 3 boxes of documents to a certain company in Shenton Way to submit for a job, so we went with them to help. After that Cindy, Junn and yours truly went to Vivocity to have lunch. We went to The Asian Kitchen at Basement 2 for lunch and it was paid by Junn!!! Privileged right??? Then we went back to the office where most of the QS had gone home to rest (They worked till 5am that day! Wow! Tiring man~~). Way to go girls!

Surfed the Net and found lots of BBT pics, people like 毛弟&王子(I call then the Chiu Brothers cuz they are real brothers born in the same family)﹐鮪魚﹐牙膏﹐野獸﹐Echo, BBT 1st Batch... Tons of pics... By chance I came across 毛弟's new pics, looks so handsome! Very cool, really!!! I can show you...

This is 毛弟's new pic. See what I mean?

This is the wallpaper I did with a few new pics..

That's all folks! Meanwhile take care and enjoy your day!

Something interesting to share...

Yup, after "resting" from blogging for so long, I am back with a vengence, i.e., with some interesting stuff to share.

First, check out Good Stuff Cannot Bluff (BSCB)'s blog, lots of interesting stuff inside. Check out the latest entry about Chinese-English translations. I guarantee that you will laugh till you drop, which i did everytime I read the blog.

Next, yesterday was National Day, so its a busy public holiday for me. Firstly, I went to help George and his fiance paint his new house till around 4.30pm. Them I rushed back home to have a big, thorough waskkup and went to meet CrossroadsWD drama people for dinner and fellowship. We had dinner at Bugis, then we walked to Douby Ghaut for games. We had lots of fun at the games arcade located at Douby Ghaut NEL Station. We played Dance Dance Revolvtion (DDR) and Para Para. It has been 5 long years since I played these games and I really felt like a secondary school student that night. After that, we went to Starbucks to have a drink. People on budget like me went to 7-11 to buy Big Gulp. I was served by this impatient girl (or is it a guy? I donno, as "she" is in a girl's body but a guy's voice...) but her impatientness was understandable as the queue was quite long and there were oli 2 counters. Liz, our little cutie pie, was shocked and amused to see "her" as this was the first time she came across this kind of thing. Seems that she learnt lots of things in one day.... Then we went home our separate ways at 11.30pm...

Lastly, as you might have read in my previous entry, I am into Lollipop 棒棒堂. Recently I watched the idol drama that they and 黑澀會美眉 star in, 黑糖瑪奇朵, on Tudou. Its so funny and interesting. If you like either groups or both groups, or you like those 校園偶像劇 kind of show, you will love this one.

Just to share with you my favs. Enjoy!

So Bored...

Now at Sha Villa, at my friend's workplace. She wanted me to wait for her till 11pm, which is her knock off time. Here she is, working hard at the Front Desk, counting money to make sure it tallies with the paperwork. Seeing her work that way makes me feel that she has somehow grown. This is the first time I see her working so seriously. So serious that I don't feel its her at all.

Oh, by the way, her colleagues, who was working with her, said that I looked like Ella from SHE. Do I? Sometimes I wonder why some people said that I look like her. They even said I sound like her! I was like ^_^... Do I really look like her? Someone tell me!!!

Long time no Blog...

Hah! So long never come and blog le. Don't worry, I didn't forget that I have friends who read my blog(s) (I have a Chinese Blog but I seldom update it). I have a few interesting events to blog about.

New Job, New Beginning

That's right, I have a new job now! I am doing Admin work in a construction company, thanks to carcar . She is the one who introduced me to this job. I got to know lots of nice colleagues and I really want to stay in this company for long term. Although I've never been in this industry but I am learning the ropes...

Michelle and Matthew aka Kheng Guan's Wedding

Thei wedding was a few months ago and yours truly was the "jie mei". We had lots of fun at the bride's house as we "sabohed" the groom and his brothers as they tried to get the groom into the bride's house to fetch the bride. After that the couple Jing Cha to the parents and the elder relatives (Michelle's side). After that we went to the groom's house and did the same thing, except that there is buffet lunch available. Then we went to the couple's new house to rest before the Holy Matrimony at night.

As I was the back up-vocalist for the wedding, I was very nervous as this was my first time holding the mic and sing Praise and Worship songs. There, I met Jasper(guitarist) and Yihua (Keyboardist). I was so happy to see them, especially Yihua as we have not met for some time. We chatted and I felt more relaxed. Tough there were some blubbers during the wedding, the whole wedding was great. I wish the couple Happy Marriage and Ever Lasting Love realtionship with each other.

The Jie Meis, brothers and the couple. Can you spot me?

Isaac and Dom (aka Ying Ying) Wedding

Yes, I am involved in their wedding as well, but this time as a dramatist. Their wedding will be in Bintan, which is unique as this is the first time a wedding is not held in Singapore island. Will update more on that....

Adios..

Singing two parts in two choirs and Musical Extravaganza

What do i mean? It means I am singing Soprano in MPYC and Alto in CHC choir... Fantastic rite? Although its very tiring to have to memorise 2 parts most of the time, especially when I have a concert coming up on 8 Dec at Esplanade Concert Hall and most probably be on duty for church's Christmas Celebrations (no wonder I am having white hair now due to all the memorising... hahaha...), but I know that I am up to it (Yeah!). This is the kind of talent that God gives to me, having a "wide" vocal range...

Oh, the Musical Extravaganza concert! It was great and MPYC's item, West Side Story, received good response fron the audience, though we are the guest choir. This was the best concert I had ever performed in - as a guest choir. The Singapore Polytechnic Symphony Band is a good band... I had fun collaborating with them....

The December concert is entitled "He Comes At Christmastide" (Name subject to change). It will be at Esplanade Concert Hall, 8th Dec 2007. Further details will be updated later.

That's all folks! I need to rest my voice and my body now..... Zzzz....

Musical Extravaganza and Singapore Drum Fest 2007

Ahh! I am losing my voice! I was so busy with Easter, Benny Hinn and Musical Extravaganza with IFC! In Musical Extravaganza I am singing solo in West Side Story! How??? But thank God for my mum, she prepared some herbal tea for me, so my voice is coming back slowly. I really hope and pray that I can get back my voice in time for my performance on Sunday 13th May 2007.

Oh another thing, to those who are into drumming, listen up! The first ever Singapore Drum Fest 2007 is here! There will be a drum challange as well. The auditions was a few weeks ago, but fret not, the semi-finals will be at Plaza Singapura on 13th May 2007! Don't miss this chance to see some of Singapore's most talented drummers battling against one another to be the first Singapore Drum Fest Winner! See you there! More details can be found at http://www.singaporedrumfest.com and http://myspace.com/sgdrumfest

Benny Hinn, the new boyband Lollipop and Musical Extravaganza

Lots of things are going to happen from now to May. Let me explain...

First, church stuff. There is this healing evangelist called Benny Hinn, he will be coming to Singapore for a healing crusade organised by my church. He will need a thousand people choir (Needless to say, I am involved as I am a choir member). The fun thing is notes reading, you know, tao geh (literally translated as bean sprouts, which mean musical notes in music sense.). As church choir seldom really get to read notes, this is a chance for me to be able to help others in sight-reading as I have been reading musical notes ever since 5 years old, from learning organ at Yamaha, to learning violin from Lee Yu Chuan, to playing clarinet in secondary school, playing the saxophone in ITE, till now while singing in MPYC. So you can say that I've been sight-reading all my life. So, this is also a good learning ground and an exciting experience for me. The attire? Guys: white long sleeve shirt, black pants and navy blue/dark blue tie while for ladies: navy blue/dark blue shirt/blouse and black pants/skirt. I've seen other church choirs in other countries when he was there, ALL the attire was THE SAME! Thus the same thing for Singapore this time. I'm looking forward to practice on Sunday with the non-choir members who are helping out.

Next, there is this new boyband called Lollipop 棒棒堂 . They came out from a competition in Taiwan. They consist of: Owodog aka Ow Quan (Dancer by training), Wang Zi aka Prince (the cutest, the most popular with the girls in the group, one of the better singers), Xiaoyu (the best singer and rocker of the group), Wei Lian aka William (the tallest, fittest and the most hardworking of the group, and always not in tempo...), Xiaojie (Dancer by training, PR of the group) and A-wei (the shortest, the most confident, the funniest and the best dancer of the group). Their debut EP+DVD received good responses from both Singapore and Taiwan.

Last but not least, its my honor to announce the colleboration of International Festival Chorus (IFC) and the MPYC in a concert entitled Musical Extravaganza, where yours truly will be part of. It will be on 13 May 2007, at Victoria Concert Hall, 5pm. This concert will feature the Singapore Polytecnic Symphonic Band, conducted by Leonard Tan. Tickets are selling at $12/$15/$20 (Stall) and $25/$30 (Circle). Interested parties can call after 5pm at 97882114 or SMS at 97877918 or 97844945. Alternatively, I can be contacted via MSN or email at tkd_june@yahoo.com.sg .

That's all for now! Till then, take care and enjoy everything you do!

Happy birthday to me!

Sunday, 25th Feb 2006.

Woke up at 7.30am. And I realised that... Ahhh! I am super late!! I was to be at Singapore Expo Hall 8 by 8.30am!!! I rushed into the washroom, did my wash-ups and proceed to do my make up. then I rushed to church by cab, which cost me $20.00.

Upon reaching, I immediately went up to stage for soundcheck. Then I ran to look for seats with Isaac and Dominique. After serving, Taiwanese celebrity Liu Gen Hong came and entertained us with his fantastic band. After which was the sermon. the service ended at abt 12.30pm.

At foyer 3, I met up with some of the members and there, they celebrated my birthday!

The nice wallet and eye shadow given by CG. Tks so much!!!

Me with my bday presents. Tks to cell group members and Faith!!

And I wanna thank guys like Isaac and Dominique, Gisele, Yunfeng, Suann, Christina aka Nana, Tiffany aka Jingli, Hui Hui, Jasmine, Claris, William, Joseph, Weiliang, Kenneth, Zechen aka Steven, and Hui Qiong for the very expensive but my desired gift - Slim Diet cuz i really wanted to slim down and look more beautiful. Tks so much!!!

26th Feb 2006 (My actual birthday)

Was woken up by my beloved mum at 8am. But being the lazy pig that I am, I went back to sleep till 9am. I walked slowly to do my washing up and set off for work at 9.45am, which is quite early.

When I reached my workplace, Jenny and Ruth wished me a happy birthday. I was touched when Ruth bought steamed egg and duck drumstick for me! Following that, throughout the day, I received smses from friends wishing me happy birthday. Xiafen called me and said, "Yilei! Happy birthday!" I was "scareded" by her outburst that I almost fainted... Heeheehee... but I thank her anyway.... Heeheehee...

After work, I went for BP (Business Presentation) at Phoenix Hotel. There, Patrick informed us (the members) that BP will NOT be at Phoenix Hotel from next week onwards due to some unforseen circumstances. After the training, Isaac and Dom told me that Gisele and I are in Club100! I can't believe it! Its the best birthday present for me! Next month I'll be recognised as C100 in the Business Seminar! Can't wait for that!!!

Happy 2007!!!

Dec 31 2006, at 11:59:55 at Marina Square.... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Happy New Year!!

Yes, 2007 is here! Me and some my MPYC friends, namely Shize, Xu Yi, Shijing, Jianhao, Giflyn and her bf, Shiwei (Our Birthday boy), Cheryl, Jieying and Huixian were counting down there at MS. We saw the usual fireworks and the interesting sight was, balloons were being released not once, not twice, but THREE times in the span of 5 mins. This was something I personally have not seen before. (You can call me swakoo, but I really, really have never seen anything like that before!!!)

Anyway, after counting down, we went to the link between Marina Square and Millenia Walk to celebrate Shiwei's birthday. For the past few years, we are the first ones to celebrate his birthday. I feel so honoured... Heeheehee... ;P

After that, we went to BK for a drink and a snack, then we parted our ways home. I had to walk one entire round to the Esplanade to catch a Night Owl (5N) /Night Rider (NR5) home. When I got on bus no. 5N at around 1.45am, I found a comfortable seat and went to sleep with my MP3 player plugged into my ears. When I woke up, I was around my house area and the time was 4am! Wow! The whole journey took me around 2hrs, but I have to admit, I have had a good nap on the bus... When I reached home, lo and behold, the only cat left in my household, was missing! He was probably looking for his elder brother, who had ran away from home two months ago. My family and I were so worried that me, my elder bro and his gf went on a hunt for him on New Year's Day morning, but went back emptyhanded. Hope they will return soon... :'(
